FIFA 2016 Futsal World Cup
approaches fast in Colombia, with FIFA
Championship to be held September 10 to
October 1 at the city venues of
Cali, Medellin and Bucaramanga. Also, the preparation and scouting of talent
for Canada, brought sports fire to the final of the Ontario Futsal Cup 2016 between the provincial tournament between Toronto United Futsal and Futsal Club Toronto, who won the first 4-3 in Vaughn.
TEAM CANADA’s Men national head coach, Kyt Selaidopoulos, was watching and scouting for players to participate in the Vaughn’s training camp of 30 top Canadian stars that starts this week.
Ron Smale, president of the Ontario Soccer
Association (OSA) confessed very excited by the
level of indoor soccer exhibited throughout the Championship and all the
spectators public support on each game: "We
are growing the futsal and that's an important mission. The final was
electrifying and we can foresee futsal
will be held highly throughout Ontario (in the province there are 369,000
registered players in football and about 200,000 in indoor and futsal) ".
The tournament was divided into two groups.
The
Group "A" with Milton Magic,
Toronto United Futsal, London Canadian Futsal Club, Futsal
Club Toronto.
In
the Group "B" were playing Futsal
Club Toronto II, Toronto Idolo, Barrie Futsal Club, and North York
Futsal Club, the representative LEAGUE SOCCER AND FUTSAL INDOOR ARENA, 1107
Finch Avenue West.
Norrth York Futsal Club,
the bright lime yellow team, had among
its stars Brazilians Anton Almeida
and Julio Okumura, Colombian
Canadians Andres Zapata and Christian Pineda, the Peruvian Angelo Alvarez, the Iranian goalkeeper Audisho Odishuo (the second best
goalkeeper of the whole \provincial tournament, stopping the attacking teams
and scoring 4 goals in the Ontario Cup, 3 playing on field and 1 by penlaty
kick), Mexican Carlos Palacios,
Chilean Jose Mejia and Portuguese Juan Carlos Lopez. And while Barrie
Futsal surprised them 18-7 in the opener against Toronto and Toronto Futsal
Idolo (2014 national champion) managed two draws 6-6 and even came close to
winning and have the chance to semifinals.
The two most powerful clubs reached the final: Toronto United Futsal after beating Toronto 4-1 Idolo and Futsal Club Toronto in semifinals with a win 7-3 over Barrie Futsal Club. Roy Blanche's players started with an advantage via questionable penalty converted by Kevin Correa and Andy Quintanilla’s second goal.
But coach Lorenzo Redwoood and president Washington Cornejo’ s white team tied with goals from Max Oddo and Marco Rodriguez, and later Chilean Canadians Jonathan Osorio and Mario Ahumada - two former Canadian national team players - rose 4-2 until Joshua Paredes made the 4-3. The light blue team decided to take his goalkeeper David Campusano and improvised the last 7 minutes with Hector Eduardo Jauregui playing the dual position of goalkeeper and outfield player, and almost proved fruitful when in the last second last his powerful shot hit the crossbar and rebouded in the goal line.
Daniel Chamale,
No. 5 of Futsal Club Toronto, playmaker and defender, was the best player of
the tournament, although his team failed to win the championship. He played
every game almost without being replaced a couple of minutes.
