OTTAWA -- Canada Soccer has announced Tuesday that its men's national futsal team will hold an evaluation camp from March 18-20 in advance of a two-match series against the United States from which one will qualify for the upcoming CONCACAF Futsal Championship.Newly-appointed head coach Kyt Selaidopoulos will oversee the gathering that promises to attract large group of invitees.
"Our early preparations will start with a camp in March," said Selaidopoulos. "From there, 5 and 6 May will come very quickly."
Those are the dates Canada and the U.S. will square off in San Jose, Costa Rica, the site of the 2016 CONCACAF Futsal Championship. The side emerging victorious by virtue of aggregate goals will earn a spot in the eight-team field.
The Official Draw for the event will be held on March 16, also in San Jose, Costa Rica. The competition is slated to take place May 8-15 with Costa Rica (host), Cuba, Curacao, Guatemala, Mexico and Panama having already secured places. Trinidad & Tobago and Honduras will meet in another play-in series.
