FIFA 2016 Futsal World Cup approaches fast in Colombia, with FIFA Championship to be held September 10 to October 1 at the city venues  of Cali, Medellin and Bucaramanga. Also, the preparation and scouting of talent for Canada, brought sports fire to the final of the Ontario Futsal Cup 2016  between the provincial tournament between Toronto United Futsal and  Futsal Club Toronto, who won the first 4-3 in Vaughn.

TEAM CANADA’s Men national head coach, Kyt Selaidopoulos, was watching and scouting for players to participate in the Vaughn’s training camp of 30 top Canadian stars that starts this week.

Ron Smale, president of the Ontario Soccer Association (OSA) confessed very excited by the level of indoor soccer exhibited throughout the Championship and all the spectators public support on each game: "We are growing the futsal and that's an important mission. The final was electrifying and  we can foresee futsal will be held highly throughout Ontario (in the province there are 369,000 registered players in football and about 200,000 in indoor and futsal) ".

The tournament was divided into two groups.

The Group "A" with Milton Magic, Toronto United Futsal, London Canadian Futsal Club,  Futsal Club Toronto.

In the Group "B" were playing Futsal Club Toronto II, Toronto Idolo, Barrie Futsal Club, and  North York Futsal Club,  the representative LEAGUE SOCCER AND FUTSAL INDOOR ARENA, 1107 Finch Avenue West.

Norrth York Futsal Club, the bright lime yellow team,  had among its stars Brazilians Anton Almeida and Julio Okumura, Colombian Canadians Andres Zapata and Christian Pineda, the Peruvian Angelo Alvarez, the Iranian goalkeeper Audisho Odishuo (the second best goalkeeper of the whole \provincial tournament, stopping the attacking teams and scoring 4 goals in the Ontario Cup, 3 playing on field and 1 by penlaty kick), Mexican Carlos Palacios, Chilean Jose Mejia and Portuguese Juan Carlos Lopez. And while Barrie Futsal surprised them 18-7 in the opener against Toronto and Toronto Futsal Idolo (2014 national champion) managed two draws 6-6 and even came close to winning and have the chance to semifinals.

The two most powerful clubs reached the final: Toronto United Futsal after beating Toronto 4-1 Idolo and Futsal Club Toronto in semifinals with a win 7-3 over Barrie Futsal Club. Roy Blanche's players started with an advantage via questionable penalty converted by Kevin Correa and Andy Quintanilla’s second goal.

But coach Lorenzo Redwoood and president Washington Cornejo’ s white team tied with goals from Max Oddo and Marco Rodriguez, and later Chilean Canadians Jonathan Osorio and Mario Ahumada - two former Canadian national team players  - rose 4-2 until Joshua Paredes made the 4-3. The light blue team decided to take his goalkeeper David Campusano and improvised the last 7 minutes with Hector Eduardo Jauregui playing the dual position of goalkeeper and outfield player, and almost proved fruitful when in the last second last his powerful shot hit the crossbar and rebouded in the goal line.

Daniel Chamale, No. 5 of Futsal Club Toronto, playmaker and defender, was the best player of the tournament, although his team failed to win the championship. He played every game almost without being replaced a couple of minutes.

2 and April 3 The National Championship being decided between the champion clubs of Quebec and Ontario will be played April 12 to 13,2016 in Oshawa and in May TEAM CANADA will face TEAM UNITED STATES back and forth in the pre-qualifying in CONCACAF. The Futsal Revolution continues at LA LIGA TORONTO ARENA with its competitive, recreational, children's and youth tournaments, as well as and women’s and girls competitions in the early spring of 2016, with spectacular programs  for evenings and weekends in the professional hardwood surface Maple Select Pro, the world’s standard for professional and high performance competitive futsal and indoor soccer.

Toronto United capture Men's Ontario Futsal Cup 2016 4-3 in an electrifying game over Futsal Club Toronto

    Futsalchamps2

A packed house at Vaughan Sportsplex and an intense atmosphere had blood boiling in the Men’s Ontario Futsal Cup Final between Toronto United and Futbol Club Toronto
A controversial call in the first minute of play ensured that hot start as FCT were awarded a penalty in the first minute of the game.
Kevin Correa converted his penalty to give FCT an early 1-0 lead and send their supporters into a frenzy.
But two goals in 15 seconds for Toronto United would quickly change that.
Marco Rodriguez answered back for United when a clever first touch equalized the game.
Maxi Oddo added to United’s lead in similar fashion with a blast off his first touch.
Both sides would settle into the game after that and display some patience.
Patience led to Andy Quintanilla goal’s as FCT worked it around the United net before calmly tying the game at 2-2.
United would earn a penalty seconds later but FCT’s keeper would make a solid stop to keep it locked.
With both teams out of fouls to give the game became more of a chess match rather than the high intensity free for all that was the first half.

With nine minutes remaining, United’s Johnathan Osario slipped his defender to put himself in on net alone. He would make no mistake and his blast gave United a 3-2 lead.
Harry Anumada would double United’s lead when he also found himself a little room down the side. His shot had eyes, finding its way through a number of legs and into the back of the net, making it 4-2 United with seven minutes remaining.
With FCT trailing by two with only minutes remaining, they began rotating their keeper out when they had possession to ensure an extra attacking man would join the play.
The ploy worked as Joshua Parades’ shot beat the United keeper low, to bring FCT to within one with five minutes remaining.
With FCT continuing to press, United’s Adrian Perez took a red card with only 46 seconds left after a hard tackle. With United down to three men, FCT desperately tried equalize. A shot off the bar in the dying seconds would be as close as they would get though as Toronto United held on to win 4-3 and advance to the Futsal Canadian Championship.
The Futsal Canadian Championship, a two legged final against an opponent yet to be determined from Quebec, will take place April 9 and 10 at Durham College in Oshawa.

Canada Soccer's 2016 edition of the Futsal Canadian Championship will be hosted by the Ontario Soccer Association this spring. The two-day national final will be hosted 9 & 10 April 2016 in Oshawa, Ontario.

This marks the second edition of the Futsal Canadian Championship, with last year's edition hosted in Montréal, Québec. At the 2015 edition, Futsal Club Toronto won the national title after a two-match series with Albiceleste (13-7 on aggregate).

Canada Soccer, in partnership with its members, promotes the growth and development of the game in Canada. Futsal provides another avenue through which the game can grow in communities across the country.

Already well established at the international stage, Canada participated in the first edition of the FIFA Futsal World Cup back in 1989. This year, Canada will participate at the 2016 CONCACAF Futsal Championship in May with hopes of qualifying for the FIFA Futsal World Cup Colombia 2016.

    Men's Ontario Futsal Cup

    futsal2016
The Ontario Soccer Association will be holding a 2016 Men's Ontario Futsal Cup on:
March 11-13, 2016 | Vaughan Sportsplex II and Tommy Douglas S.C. in Vaughan.
Last year, the Ontario Futsal Cup featured Futsal League Champions from various Men’s futsal leagues across the province.
These championship teams faced off against each other in a tournament format leading to a Cup Final.
This year however, the Provincial Championship will be held in March before the league seasons finish so the competition will be open to any registered Men’s futsal team to enter.
The reason for the early competition is that the CONCACAF Men’s World Cup Qualifying will be taking place in Costa Rica, May 8-15, 2016. As a result, the Provincial and National Championships will be held in advance of this competition.
The Futsal Canadian Championships will be held April 8-10, 2016 and may be used as a scouting opportunity for the Canadian Men’s Futsal Team.
Men's futsal teams from around the province will be given the opportunity to enter the Ontario Futsal Cup by completing the online registration form and submitting it by February 18, 2016.  The competition format will be a round-robin tournament format.  If more than eight teams enter, then a Preliminary Round may be held on February 28, 2016 in Vaughan.
